When will I receive my refund?
E-file with Direct Deposit
If you choose to direct deposit your refund and you e-filed, the official IRS statement is, “Nine out of ten taxpayers typically receive refunds in less than 21 days when they use e-file with direct deposit.” Same goes for you choosing to receive your refund as a check, we will print in office and notify you.
From our experience with last years NNJ tax customers, most customers got their federal refund in about 7 to 14 days if they e-file and choose direct deposit. It really just comes down to how fast the IRS system can process your refund.
If you mailed your tax return instead of e-filing, you’ll typically receive your refund in 6 weeks or more.
Check refund status
24 hours after you e-file (or 4 weeks after you mail) your tax return you can check the status of your refund by using the IRS Where’s My Refund? tool or by calling the IRS Teletax number at 1-800-829-4477 and selecting the refund status option.
To get your refund status, you will need the following information as shown on your tax return
- Your social security number (or IRS Individual Taxpayer Identification number)
- Your filing status (Single, Married filling Joint Return, Married filling Separately, Head of House hold, or Qualifying Widow(er))
- The refund amount ( it is important to enter the refund amount exactly as it is shown on the return).
